Following a notice from the CNNIC, domestic registrars are currently investigating .cn domain names in order to make sure owners have provided the required documentation. In January this year we have sent mails to all our clients to request them to provide both their passport copy and copy of business license (when applicable) in order to comply with the CNNIC requirements. If you have registered a .cn domain name with us and your site has stopped resolving then it means you haven’t sent us the documents or these documents have not been accepted as valid by the registrar. Such domains show “ClientHold” as status when doing a whois search instead of the normal value (“OK”).
In case you are concerned by the situation above, please send immediately to our support email:
-The passport copy of your registrant (the registrant would be the client who purchased the domain name from us, which you can also verify by doing a whois search)
-A scan copy of your business license or certificate of incorporation (if domain was registered for a company).
As soon as we receive these documents we will transfer them to the appropriate registrar for the domain name to be reactivated.
For any questions on the above issue, you can email to our support department or open a support ticket using your client details.

As we have added a new datacenter provider in Hong Kong, we are now able to lower our price for dedicated IP address in Hong Kong for shared hosting accounts. The new price is RMB980/year, which is almost RMB700 cheaper than before.
Dedicated IP addresses are recommended for companies who do not want to have their sites sharing the same IP with other unrelated websites, which can be found easily through some free online tools. On the other hand, they are required for clients running ecommerce sites and requiring to install a SSL certificate.
Finally, please note that Hong Kong IP addresses are available free of charge on our Enterprise Email Hosting plans.

Since yesterday evening our hkta.sinohosting.net server as well as our Hong Kong VPS node with IP starting from 91.207 are experiencing some outages resulting on websites on that server being unavailable. From the preliminary information from our datacenter this would be due to a DDoS attack. We are working on this issue together with our Hong Kong datacenter in order to get these servers back online within today. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

In our constant search to provide the best value for our clients, we are proud to announce that as of today all our enterprise email hosting plans will now come with a free dedicated IP address.
With a dedicated IP address, risks of the IP being blacklisted, which affects from time to time accounts on shared servers, will be basically removed. This will also improve email delivery and the overall service level.
All dedicated IP addresses will have a reverse DNS in place as before.
If you currently have an enterprise email hosting plan, you can contact us to get your account setup with a free dedicated IP address as well.
Above offer is valid for accounts hosted on Hong Kong or USA servers only, we are unable to offer this service for email hosting plans hosted on our mainland China servers.

From June 19th to July 19th, the ministry of industry and information technology will proceed to an upgrade to its ICP license system. During the upgrade, new ICP applications will not be accepted, and from June 5th, changes to existing ICP licenses will not be processed.
The new system make application for an ICP license even more complex. New changes include, among others:
1-On top of the national ICP system, which is managed by the ministry of industry and information technology, a provincial communication administration and server provider ICP systems have been introduced. There are now therefore three levels of approvals, with the applicant entering details through the server provider ICP system, which then will forward to the provincial communication administration, and finally to the national ICP system under the ministry of industry and information technology.
2-The server provider needs to verify the information provided by the applicant (telephone number, mobile, email, address etc.) and sign a document to provide to the ministry of information attesting that such verification has been properly conducted.
3-A “domain name certificate” has been added to the list of documents to provide with the application. Considering that such certificates are typically issued by Chinese registrars only, it might signal that foreign registered domain names cannot anymore be used to apply for the ICP license.
4-The domain name owner name (as per domain name certificate) must correspond to the company name on the ICP license application.
5-A copy of the business license certificate, and Chinese ID card of contact person must be provided (previously, only the license numbers and ID cards numbers were required to file on the application form).
6-The contact person must come in person to the server provider office and have its photograph taken (we will see the possibility of avoiding this by having applicant provide a photograph by email; instructions to be provided upon request)
7-All application documents must now be sent in hard copy to the server provider.
8-The ICP application system website will now be changed to www.miitbeian.gov.cn
The three level application documents and the expanded list of documents make the whole ICP application much more difficult, and we estimate that it would push the application time from the current 2 to 3 weeks to a minimum of 1 to 3 months.
More rules or updates may come from the ministry of industry and information technology between now and the official launch of the new system on July 2oth, we will update this post accordingly.

We have been advised by our Chinese datacenter that server with IP 61.147.124.150 has a website with contents forbidden by Chinese law. According to the local regulations, they have shut down this server pending further investigation. We are working with them in order to have the site removed and the server back online. However there is no specific timeline on how this will be done.
For clients who wish to do so we are currently restoring the latest available backup to another server. Please open a support ticket through our website if you are on this server and wants us to do that. Uploading and restoring a backup can take 1~4h depending of the size of your website. If you have your own backup, however, you can require from us to set up a new account and restore the backup by yourself, the new account set up can be done within 15mn.
While we apologize for the downtime occurred, there is nothing much we can do as this is part of how datacenters operate in mainland China.

One of the US datacenters we use is reallocating IP addresses to their servers and proceeding to needed migrations. If you notice that you cannot upload to your site through FTP, it might be that your IP has changed. Please open a support ticket immediately to obtain your new IP information. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. As this was done with short notice, we have not been able to inform each client individually.
