Changes in international web hosting and email hosting packages

March 19th, 2010 shadmin

Starting from April 1, we will introduce new changes in both our international web hosting packages (US/UK/Singapore/Hong Kong) and email hosting packages.

While pricing will match the China hosting plans, the international web hosting packages will have more resources (disk space, monthly allocated bandwidth etc.) than before.

In regard to email packages, we will update them to match current corporate email requirements, with larger allocated disk space. Prices would be higher but we believe this would meet better the needs of our clients.

Existing clients would not be affected by these changes. Renewals will be done at their current prices, and we will not force them to move to the new packages. For those however who wants to enjoy the new resource limits, we can give a free upgrade and they will start to be billed for the new prices only when they renew.

VPS servers to be moved to Guangdong datacenter

December 15th, 2009 shadmin

Due to the multiple restrictions at Shanghai Telecom datacenter, we will be moving soon our VPS users to a new datacenter in Guangdong province, as well as another Shanghai datacenter with another ISP. If you are a VPS user please make sure to make a full back up of your data as soon as possible, as we will not be able to migrate the data from old server in Shanghai to the new in Guangdong. VPS clients will be sent an email with their new VPS IP address when this is completed.

China servers downtime notice

December 9th, 2009 shadmin

We have just been notified by the datacenters we are using of temporary shut down at their level. There are basically tens of thousands of websites affected by this, including many of our clients hosted in China. While we are working with our datacenters to get our servers back as soon as network activity resumes, our only option is to wait since this is a government decision.

You can download the original message below (in Chinese) from here.

Hong Kong CPanel hosting now with Fantastico

October 24th, 2009 shadmin

We have now enabled Fantastico on CPanel accounts at our Hong Kong hosting location.

Fantastico is a WHM/CPanel utility that allows users to add, update or delete useful open-source programs through a few clicks. These programs include blogs (WordPress, Nucleus etc.), content management systems or CMS (Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Typo3, Xoops etc.), forums platforms (PHPBB, SMF), e-commerce software (Cubecart, OSCommerce, Zen Cart etc.) and many more.

This function will still be unavailable on the older server (IP 202.181.234.60), if you are on that server and need Fantastico, you can contact us to have a new account set up in another Hong Kong server and start migrating to that server.

We therefore now have Fantastico on our US, Singapore and Hong Kong locations. China-based CPanel accounts however do not have Fantastico enabled.

DNS servers issues

October 10th, 2009 shadmin

Since today at noon one of our DNS servers is having some issues which will cause some sites not to be accessible. This issue will affect primarily clients with sites hosted in mainland China, or using ns3.sinohosting.net / ns4.sinohosting as DNS servers. We have contacted the datacenter where this DNS server is hosted at and are working to get them back online asap. Sorry for the inconvenience.

IP 221.181.67.170 has been turned off

October 2nd, 2009 shadmin

We have been informed by datacenter than the IP address 221.181.67.170 has been turned off due to one site on this server hosting illegal contents, resulting in all sites on that server becoming not available. As per the Chinese law in that regard, the server will be reopened only after investigation, which unfortunately won’t happen before October 8th when the holidays finish. We do apologize for the downtime for clients which sites are hosted on that server, however there is nothing much we can do other than wait for the datacenter. We do not have access to the files on the server to move clients sites to a new server/IP address.

For clients who have a backup of their site please contact us immediately by opening a support ticket through our homepage to have an account set up for you on another server.

Update: The IP address 58.215.65.53 is now affected by the same issue. Clients with sites on that IP address can contact us to obtain a new account on another server to which they can upload their site.

Hong Kong dedicated servers coming soon

August 26th, 2009 shadmin

Due to popular demand, we will be launching a new offering of dedicated servers in Hong Kong datacenters very soon. As for China, those servers will be unmanaged but with competitive pricing and good value as compared to existing competition. Both Linux and Windows would be available as OS. The main advantage over current China servers would be that no ICP license filling would be required, while the access speed would be comparable to mainland servers when accessed from China. Keep posted for details.
