Upgrades to our Linux web hosting packages

November 14th, 2012 shadmin

We are happy to announce a major upgrade to our Linux shared hosting package, in China as well as in Hong Kong/overseas. Most packages see an increase of over 100% in terms of resources while the prices stay essentially the same. There is a slight increase in our China hosting packages, although resources are now aligned with our international hosting packages.

Existing clients will benefit of the upgraded packages but will continue to renew at their older prices. All new orders however will be charged at the new prices.

The most important changes:
1) Disk space and bandwidth limits are increased
2) Prices stay the same for basic and business plans, the corporate plan increases to RMB2,500/year
3) There is an increase on all China-hosted plans respectively to 750, 1,500 and 3,000/year
4) Now China-hosted plans have the same disk space and bandwidth limits as the HK/international hosting plans (prices are higher though).
5) Now there is no option to purchase add-on domains. The corporate plan comes can support 10 domains, other plans support 1 domain only. If a client has a different domain he will need to purchase a second hosting package (or upgrade to the corporate plan).

We are also happy to introduce new international hosting locations, which are Miami in the USA and Netherlands in Europe.

IP change at server taipo

April 7th, 2012 shadmin

Due to networking issues at the upstream provider, the IP address 112.213.126.20 was unavailable since April 6th, 2012, taking offline all sites hosted on this IP. We have immediately taken the necessary measures to obtain a new IP and have clients sites migrated on that IP in our system.

For clients who are using our nameservers ns19.sinohosting.net / ns20.sinohosting.net their sites should be back online now as they would be automatically updated by the system. For clients using external nameservers however they will need to update manually their records to the new IP. Please open a support ticket to obtain the new IP information.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Server taipo issues

March 12th, 2012 shadmin

Since yesterday late night we are experiencing recurring DDoS attacks on the server taipo. Due to the scale of the attack there is little the datacenter can do to mitigate other than temporarily null routing the IP. This will affect uptime of all sites hosted on it.

We apologize for the inconvenience but in a shared hosting environment there is little we can do as we do not know the client site that is causing the DDoS. We are exploring alternatives including changing the server IP addresses to see if this can solve the issue.

Clients who have their own backups and want to be migrated to a different server can submit a ticket at support@sinohosting.net so that we activate a new account for them.

SinoHosting launches Guangdong and Beijing cPanel shared hosting services

March 2nd, 2012 shadmin

Due to growing demand in the local markets in Guangdong province and Beijing (plus northern China), we are now offering shared hosting services on servers in Beijing and Guangdong respectively. In Beijing we are using a dual line datacenter with access to both China Unicom and China Telecom. In Guangdong we will be using a cloud server built on datacenters in Shenzhen, Zhongshan and Dongguan.

Prices are the same as our standard shared hosting plans (which up to now were offered in Shanghai and Jiangsu), and we will also use our standard cPanel setup.

Existing clients who are hosted in Shanghai or Jiangsu who would like to move there must note however that they would need to cancel their existing ICP license an apply for a new one through the new datacenter. If this service is needed we will give a 50% discount on our normal ICP license application charges (so that would be RMB400). If your site is running fine in Shanghai or Jiangsu or if you are targeting the China-wide area there is no need actually to move your site.

There is no change to our VPS and dedicated services however which will still be offered out of Jiangsu and Shanghai only.

Important Migration Notification – HKNWT to STANLEY

February 20th, 2012 shadmin

As part of the upgrade of our infrastructure, and due to ongoing IP blacklisting issues at hknwt IP addresses, all accounts on that server have been migrated to the new server stanley.sinohosting.net, which is also located in Hong Kong; clients using our nameservers ns11.sinohosting.net / ns12.sinohosting.net do not need to do any change, their site should be automatically running from the new server by now. For clients using external domain nameservers, they will need to update manually their site to point to the new IP address: 210.56.51.181.

For FTP access the IP address changes to 210.56.51.181. To access your control panel you can continue to use www.yourdomain.com/cpanel , all existing usernames and passwords should remain the same.

The old server hknwt.sinohosting.net will stay up for a week the time we ensure all sites are running properly from the new location. Should you have any issue with your site after the migration, please make sure to contact our support department for assistance.

Network card replacement at VPS node

January 25th, 2012 shadmin

Earlier this evening, our main VPS node went down due to a network card failure. We have commissioned the datacenter for replacement however as they did not have a spare part at hand, it would take longer to get one delivered onsite. We are following up on them to get this done asap. We apologize for the downtime caused to clients who have their VPS or websites hosted on this server. Our own billing and support system is on that server and has also been down since. We hope to get everything back up and running within the next two hours.

Update#1
Unfortunately we were unable to find a replacement network card until now, and due to the holidays it might take a few days to have a compatible replacement network card shipped over from mainland China. While our admins are still working on finding an alternative, we have already started to set up a new VPS node which will go live later tonight. Our support ticket system will also be available at that time. For clients who have their own backups, please submit a support ticket to sales@sinohosting.net as soon as the VPS node is available so that we set you up with a new VPS immediately.

Until then, if you have any other issue that requires immediate assistance please email directly to emergency@sinohosting.net

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. All affected customers will receive a half month downtime credit due to this outage.
