In the recent weeks, the local offices of the ministry of industry and information technology, in charge of ICP licenses, have been auditing websites with ICP licenses and delisting those with invalid certificates (business license, ID card etc.) or inaccurate contents (site content not matching the original declaration on the ICP application). Sites which have been moved to a provider different of the one through which the ICP license was originally applied for are also being delisted.
After de-listing it means the site does not have an ICP license and is not legally authorized to be hosted on a mainland China server.
In case you receive a SMS or email from the ministry of industry and information technology in regard of your ICP license being delisted, please contact us directly. For clients who had the license through a third party but are now hosted with us, they will need to apply for a new license (www.sinohosting.net/icp.php). We will waive 50% of the usual RMB800 one-time application fee. In the meanwhile, your site will be migrated to our Hong Kong server and hosted there until a new ICP license is obtained.
Clients can also choose to move permanently to Hong Kong if they decide not to start the ICP license, this way there is no additional fees if the site will be moved to an equivalent package on the Hong Kong server (for instance from basic-china to basic-hong kong)

We have experienced today a security breach at our new server central hosted in Hong Kong. A hacker has been able to gain root access to the server and modify homepages of over 40 clients hosted on this server. Since the issue has been known our server admins have started investigating the issue and find out whether this is due to an outdated client or server software through which SSH access was gained from, or otherwise that the root password was gained from other sources. Furthermore they will need to do an in-depth server scanning to find out if any automated script has been uploaded to the server by the hacker.
Due to the complexity of the issue such investigation can take some time. We will update this post as soon as possible.
Meanwhile server logons have been modified and server admins have been working in securing various scripts and cleaning up hosted sites homepages. If only the home pages are affected then the sites should be back to normal as soon as possible. However in case these are sites wide issues then a restoration from latest available backups will be done.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to all affected clients and are working around the clock to get the situation back to normal as soon as possible. For clients who have their own backups and would like to be moved immediately to a new server in Hong Kong please open a support ticket for us to activate a new account for you.

Due to recent issues at the server tiger, which has affected the uptime of websites hosted on it, we are scheduling a migration of all accounts hosted on this server to another one at a different datacenter in Hong Kong. The migration will be done over the next 7~10 days. For clients who have registered their domain names through us, or are using our DNS, you do not need to do anything from your end. For clients using their own DNS or have registered their domain names elsewhere, they will be contacted in advance by our support department with the new nameservers and IP address in order to point the domain to the new server after their account migration is completed.
For any question regarding this migration, feel free to open a support ticket by emailing to support@sinohosting.net ; your understanding is much appreciated.

After months of development, we are happy to announce the launch of our Plesk-based Windows shared hosting plans in Hong Kong. The new platform represents an upgrade of the previous system which was based on a Chinese control panel and had very limited features.
The new Plesk shared hosting server includes the following:
-Windows server 2008 operating system
-AMD 8 cores processor with 15K SAS storage
-Bilingual administration panel (English and Simplified Chinese)
-Local email functionality
-MSSQL 2005/Mysql databases with local database administration software
-ASP, ASP.net and PHP 5.2 support
-Spam Assassin, antiviruses, and Plesk application pack
Overall this would improve the overall reliability of our Hong Kong Windows offering.
We will be transferring existing clients on the old system to the new platform over the next month. Our support department will be contacting you shortly if you are currently on such plan. In case you want to expedite the transfer of your account, please open a support ticket or email to support @ sinohosting.net

We have been informed by the datacenter where server tiger is hosted at that an unscheduled emergency network upgrade is ongoing at this time. As a result there will be access issues to servers in this IP range including server tiger. The upgrade is scheduled to be completed by 11:00AM. We apologize for the inconvenience caused but expect as a result to have a more stable network for that server.

Update#1:
After the network upgrade completion, upon server reboot the HDD came out in read-only mode. We have asked datacenter to check this issue and complete a fsck on this server. Please stand-by for further updates.
Update#2:
The issue was solved at 3:00AM today and sites hosted on the server appears to be loading properly; we are however still monitoring this server, and might start migrating accounts hosted on this server to new locations. If you are hosted on this server please make sure to generate a full backup just in case.

Starting on March 21st we will be charging a service fee for new clients looking to host in China who will need to apply for an ICP license through us. This is due to the increased complexity, work and time now needed to apply for an ICP license.
The service fee is set to RMB800, payable at the beginning of the application. In case of unsuccessful application after 6 months, we can refund 50% or RMB400. The remaining RMB400 is non-refundable.
Clients who already have an ICP license will not be charged that fee and will therefore only pay the normal hosting and, when applicable, the domain registration fee.
Before placing the order or applying please make sure that you meet the requirements and can provide all documents as listed on our ICP web page.
